The funeral home's history
dates back to 1869, when Ellis Y. Weidner began operating a
funeral service practice in Lobachsville. In 1872 Mr.
Weidner moved his practice to Oley. The funeral home's
location changed several times within the village. In 1946
J. Russell Weidner, Ellis son, moved the funeral home to it's
present location. The solid stone residence built in 1842
by A. Hoch & S. Hoch is located at 423 Main Street, in the
village of Oley.
-
In 1956 Mr. Weidner sold
the business to Wallace M. Long who operated the funeral home
for 8 years. Mr. Long sold the business to Daniel R. &
Julie M. Christ. Dan, who had been operating his father's
funeral home in Fleetwood moved to Oley in 1964. The
Christ's served the family's of Oley Valley for 38 years.
The property saw many renovations during the Christ's ownership,
however the character of this historical building has always
been maintained.
-
The ownership of the
business transferred to Kyle and Kelly Blankenbiller in 2006.
The Blankenbiller's continue offering the same "friendly
hometown" service that has been the hallmark of the business for
these last 130+ years.

From the days of the horse
drawn hearse to today's ever changing world, family's in the
Oley Valley and surrounding area can be assured that the
services arranged through the Blankenbiller Funeral Home will be
handled with the same dignity and respect deserving of their
trust and confidence. It's the heritage that built the
reputation for honest service and we plan on continuing that
service for many years to come. It's what we do...It's
what every family deserves!
